Minsk Metro to Receive 20 New Cars from Russian Manufacturer in November-December
According to Andrey Stepnov, General Director of Metrovagonmash JSC, the Russian Transmashholding, represented by Metrovagonmash, has been a long-standing partner of the Minsk Metro for over 40 years. Hundreds of cars produced by this enterprise are in operation in the Belarusian capital's metro. "After a long break, we resumed cooperation in 2023 and delivered 28 new metro cars last year - seven four-car trains based on the model called Minsk-2024. These cars were developed by our design company TMH Engineering in accordance with the customer's technical specifications. The version for Minsk has all the latest advantages - through passages, wide doorways, climate control systems with disinfection, convenient cabin layout, etc. The trains were designed specifically for the Zelenoluzhskaya line, and today they are all in operation," said Andrey Stepnov.
In February of this year, Transmashholding and the Minsk Metro signed a new contract for the supply of 20 Minsk-2024 cars - four five-car trains - as a result of a tender. "These cars will run on the second line of the Minsk Metro - the Avtozavodskaya line. The new cars will be delivered in November and December 2025," announced the General Director of the Russian enterprise.
Transmashholding has broad cooperation with Belarusian manufacturers, and this applies to cars not only for the Minsk, but also for the Moscow and St. Petersburg Metros. Belarusian enterprises produce vibration dampers, lighting elements for the cabin and driver's cab, windshield wipers, as well as an on-board traffic safety system.
Transmashholding plans to participate in the INNOPROM. Belarus exhibition, which will be held in Minsk this autumn. "We will present the entire range of our products.
